It isn’t necessarily senior season right now, but Lake City yearbook’s deadline is in March, so seniors are allowed extra time to get their shoots completed. I met Mike and his mom after school for a late afternoon shoot. We were quite limited by the light that the sky was putting out… partly cloudy turned out to be practically all cloudy, so we had to work in a little off camera flash to make the shoot successful.

Mike is an intellectual kind of guy, who acts and sings. He was easy to be around and relaxed throughout the shoot. We had fun with the classic couch in the basement and his black tuxedo and using it against the big red garage door on the outskirts of town. The last image posted appears to be his favorite!

Kari and Brandon flew in from Takoma to visit family and to get their E-Session done. We met at the Plummer House, which for those who have never been there, is a phenomenal historic home, which is open to the public to visit and tour. It is beautiful inside and out. We spent about 90 minutes checking out the rooms and going outside in the newly fallen fluffy white snow!

I have been absolutely terrible about updating my blog : ( I have so much to post about and really need to take the time to do that. In the meanwhile, I am putting up a shot I took last week just outside of the office. The sky was just as it is in this image. It was early morning and this amazing blue streaked across the sky! No Photoshopping here!

    We’re married!

John and I, the kids and 8 of our friends, flew to Montego Bay Jamaica on November 30th for a week long wedding celebration. We spent the week in a beautiful villa called Summerhill. We had the most amazing staff who stayed with us and tended to our every need. Noel our butler, Iona our housekeeper, Loxley our chef, John the gardener, Jennifer the laundress and Rudolph our driver. I was so touched by the love of the Jamaican people and the beauty of their country.

We were married on Thursday December 4th at 3:00 pm. by Reverend Anthony Ottey who was accompanied by his beautiful wife Patricia. We knew them as Pat and Tony and if anyone knows anyone who wants to go to Jamaica to be wed, they have to check this couple out. They were so fun to be around and it was very special to be married by Tony. Brynn and Isaac walked me to John and Isaac was the “ring manager”. He has always talked about managing the rings. It was so sweet!

I got to spend a couple of hours with one of my favorite families, ever. Wende has been my friend since Brynn and Taylor were in kindergarten at St. Theordore’s, 10 years ago. I have been blessed to photograph Wende and Shane’s wedding in 2001, the birth of Macy on May 4, 2004, and many family portraits since. Wende is truly a rock. She is one of the most sincerely kindest, loving persons I have ever met. She is a daycare mom and she is because of her sweet care for others. Her own family continues to blossom and grow. I am blessed by them every time we meet. She is now my Facebook friend as well! I am sure her daughters will love that!

I am coming to a close of my busy 2009 senior season. Jeremy called me to shoot his senior images after seeing his friend, Zach’s portraits.

Jeremy was super easy to be around. He was relaxed and upbeat and I think he had been looking forward to his shoot. We started at the abandoned former Wedge’s nursery. It offers a lot of interesting possibilities for shots. I had Isaac with me to help with lighting, and within about 30 minutes of beginning Jeremy’s shoot, Isaac decided he was starving. Jeremy agreed that he could definitely break to eat and we headed to The Taco King, one of my favorite Albert Lea places to have lunch.

After we ate, we went to the beach, where the daring kids go to attempt to do crazy things on skateboards and bikes. There is a bike park there with ramps and such. It honestly made me nervous to see what they did, but they have absolutely no fear. I don’t remember having that feeling, ever.

We ended up at Edgewater Park. It is kind of cliche’ to go to a park for pictures, but there are a ton of gorgeous colored leaves on the ground and the park is where they are found in large quantities. I think Jeremy looks like a model in some of these images. He was one of the most easy shoots I had this season.

  • Max is 1!

Max made it to the big “1″ on Friday the 10th. He has got to be my favorite blonde haired blue eyed little guy! Ashley went all out for this party. The food, favors, decorations, just incredible for a young mom who is working and going to school to boot! There were tons of little and big guests invited and the weather was glorious! I can’t see that any little boy is more loved than Max
